Cookie Policy

Every cookie and local-storage entry this site uses, what it is for, and how to change your choice.

The short version

Two necessary cookies, two local-storage entries, and analytics only if you accept it. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no data brokers.

Strictly necessary

These are required to deliver the service you asked for. They are exempt from consent under the ePrivacy rules, which is why they are set without asking.

NameSet byPurposeLifetime
Session cookieOur authentication libraryKeeps you signed inUntil sign-out, or the session expires
wb_anonThis siteRecognises your browser so the free daily allowance can be counted1 year

The anonymous identifier contains a random value. It is not derived from your device, and it is not used for advertising. Clearing it gives you a new identity but the free-tier guard also counts distinct identities per network per day, so clearing cookies does not mint unlimited free runs.

Local storage (not cookies)

Two values live in your browser's local storage. They are never sent to our servers with every request, unlike cookies.

KeyPurposeLifetime
themeRemembers light or dark modeUntil you clear browser data
wb-consentRemembers your cookie choice so we do not ask againUntil you clear browser data, or the policy version changes

These load only after you click "Accept analytics". If you decline, or have not decided, the scripts are never requested and no data leaves your browser.

ProviderCookiePurposeLifetime
Google Analytics_gaDistinguishes visitors2 years
Google Analytics_ga_*Keeps session state2 years
Microsoft Clarity_clckDistinguishes visitors1 year
Microsoft Clarity_clskGroups page views into a session1 day

Clarity records sessions — anonymised replays of clicks and scrolling. The SQL input form, the result panel, the optional context fields and error messages are all masked, so what you paste and what we return is not captured. We do not send the text of your statement to either provider ourselves.

Changing your choice

Cookie settings in the footer reopens the banner. Choosing "Necessary only" removes the analytics cookies the next time the page loads; the choice takes effect immediately in the current tab. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings — the necessary ones will simply be recreated, and the service keeps working except that you may be signed out.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We do not read these signals, because analytics is off by default and only runs after an explicit opt-in. A browser signal cannot be more restrictive than that.
